About The BBC Greatest Film List
The 100 Greatest Films of the 21st Century is a list compiled in August 2016 by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) based on a voting poll of 177 film critics from around the world.
Out of the 177 film critics surveyed, 100 were either from the United States or the United Kingdom. The list is said to be heavily biased toward Western films, with no South Asian films represented.
How do Western critics select their greatest films? What notable films might have been overlooked due to this bias?
While it's challenging to compare the list to the entirety of film history, these results provide insight into the preferences of critics from various countries and the films they prioritize.
